Possible Challenges

Major Problem #1: Coding

Although I have began to learn GDScript, coding is still a difficult skill to learn from scratch. So far all I've learned is to be able to make a character walk using button inputs.

Considering the time constraints and fact that I'll be learning and developing simultaneously, I should be conscious of the scope and complexity of my video game. Previous examples of video games made for the degree show have been demos more than fully fledged games, so that may be the route I follow too.

I will also need to allow time in the development process for playtesting, bug fixing and distribution.

Problem #2: Book Distribution

If I want my third outcome (the art book) to exist, I will have to make sure that my Workbooks actually get filled out by users. This means I'll need to print my workbooks in good time, then find people to distribute the workbooks to, who have the time and willingness to complete the books in time for me to recollect them and format the results into the art book.

A bit of a logistical headache.

Problem #3: Putting the user first

Considering that my outcomes include narratives and accompanying illustrations, I don't think they should so good that they take precedent over the player's artwork, but they shouldn't be unappealing either. Both Drawfee and Different Strokes use simple character designs that use minimal colour, they are almost as blank as the canvases surrounding them.

I must keep the user's experience as top priority when designing my outcomes, this is about fostering their desire to create, not about my world-building project.
